New Year :Resolution or Revolution?

Image
As the year comes to an end, I hear people saying next year, I will do this, I will stop that. What we fail to understand is that no amount of rule books can ever know or teach us how to be ourselves.        In the process of resolution, we end up forgetting ourselves. Some even go ahead saying I will stop talking to this set of people or stop doing this thing, its becoming an addiction.. In this process, we end up losing valuable people or things that bring us fun. What I believe New Year should be about is creating a revolution, finding a new you and bringing the best from who you have always been and not changing 360 degrees in the process losing yourself.         Every year is filled with highs and downs, we can't see in the future and our plans are altered, heart breaks set in. How you will survive depends on how you rock the storm. Go with the flow.     It's a new year, be happy, stay happy and start that revolution. Don't stop believing in yourself. People will

Slavery or Protection

Image
Yesterday, a friend was telling me he prefers to be sold into slavery in Libya than to be a victim of Corruption. This got me thinking of the victims of Libya Slave Trade.  It's no longer trending news that Africans are been sold into Slavery in Libya by their fellow black men. Libya isn't half as blessed as Nigeria yet scores of Nigerians migrate through illegal and deadly route in search of greener pastures. It's a fact that not every rescued person will want to come home due to shame of been a failure.      When I asked him why would he rather stay in Libya than in Nigeria?, he went ahead to tell me a story he found online about how a man who couldn't find a job due to his inability to pay the "Kola" decided to gather money and travel abroad.  He was granted a visa and the eve of his travel, he called his friends to join him at a bar to celebrate. Barely five minutes of been seated, they were raised by the infamous SARS(Special Anti-Robbery Squad).

Victims and protection

Imagine at the age of sixteen you were sex-trafficked bye pimp called "cut-throat". After  days of been repeatedly drugged and raped by different  men,  you were purchased  by a forty-three year old child predator  who took you to his home as a sex-slave.  You end up finding  enough courage to defend yourself and killing him by shooting him.      You were arrested as a result of the crime and convicted  as an adult and sentenced to life imprisonment.    This is the story of Cyntoia Brown who will be eligible for parole when she is sixty-nine years old.     Cyntoia Brown is not the only victim of this form of injustice. Why are victims who have been psychologically, physically and mentally tortured still legally tortured?. They are humans No one deserves this kind of torture. It's an appeal to our Judiciary who are the last hope of the common man please don't be the less hope of the common hope. #stopinjustice #freethevictim

My Lagos Life

Image
Riding in the popular Mass transit bus(BRT) around Lagos and appreciating the beauty, liveliness and hustle of the megacity, Happy with Serene environment until I saw a disturbing  which I must share.   It's no longer news that the present Government headed by Gov. Akinwummi Ambode is transforming Lagos into a great city which includes clearing the streets of Roadside sellers, hawkers,e.t.c. I saw a woman who had just finished her daily  been dragged into a black Maria van ready to be taken to prison because she was a roadside seller. She begged the KAI(Kick Against Indiscipline) Officers. Rather than executing their jobs, they preferred to assault her and other women caught. It was painful to see women and children been treated like criminals. Those who were rich enough to bail themselves by dropping every dime they had on them paid the KAI officers while those who had nothing were left to their fate of becoming prisoners who had committed no crime.        I am not against the a

Promises of The Past

Whenever I listen to the Nigerian National anthem, I just can't help but Ponder on its lyrics. "The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain.... ". The heroes are gone with the past but why can't we have heroes of the future?. Why is humanity getting worse and Machines getting better?. More questions like these are what grapple my mind daily.  Time really flies. Civilization came and it couldn't let us be independent. Ironically civilization is  meant to give us freedom rather I see it as a cage. A cage where we have to be polite and act like something we are not.  Our past leaders made promises of a great technology filled future but I believe they were all fulfilled in the past. A future where love and peace exists, less corruption and powerhunger. Now the more we go into the future the more the promises get broken. One question that keeps bothering my mind is, Why promises for the future when they are already fulfilled in the past?. Thank you for re
